We met Ruthie on the phone after being referred by the incomparable Noreen Saska of Earth Blossoms who sadly retired this year (Earth Blossoms still lives on with her guidance). We knew right away that we were going to love photographing her and Avi, and our instincts were confirmed when we met with them a few weeks before their wedding at Eolia Mansion in Harkness Park (which again, is one of our all time favorite venues and parks in New England). Seriously, just wait to see how wonderfully expressive and full of life these two are. It was one incredible candid moment after the next!
Ruthie and Avi met at nearby Connecticut College where they were friendly acquaintances some time before they began dating. As sometimes is the case, one person knew much sooner that the other was “the one” until they finally came around to realize they were truly meant for each other. When Ruthie was talking to Avi (at his very hip, off campus house, affectionately named “Avi-haus”), something just clicked, and she realized just how truly special Avi is and that deep down they were always meant to be together. How amazing is that? Avi, who had one of the few cars on campus, would take Ruthie over to Harkness Park where they could be in peaceful bliss together, sitting on the beach and watching the sun go down, or wandering through the many gardens on the property. So it wasn’t a surprise to anyone that Ruthie and Avi would start the next chapter of their lives together, and be married at that very same place.
And what a gorgeous wedding it was. Beside the beautiful floral arrangements, the bridesmaids were treated to Warby Parker sunglasses (where Ruthie works) with custom lens cloths (featuring a map of Eolia park, natch). Ruthie looked stunning in her Pronovias wedding gown, and we loved the s’mores station outside just after dark. The food was delicious (seriously, Coastal Gourmet is sooo good), and all the details were tied together beautifully by Lauren Pasternack of Lauren Perry Events. And, well, it did rain. But that didn’t stop Ruthie and Avi from having a great time, and enjoying themselves. There wasn’t a moment that wasn’t punctuated by a great big smile or silly face that pretty much sums up just how much in love these two are. But don’t take our words for it -please see for yourselves. Ruthie and Avi, we were thrilled to be chosen to photograph your celebration – thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We love you guys!
