Props, Props, Props! How can you make your engagement session with us go from great to awesome? And how can you help yourself to have even more fun with us in front of our cameras? In a word, props! One of the things we always send our couples before their engagement session are tips on what to wear that will make you feel and look your best. We always mention incorporating fun props that will help tell the story about who you are as individuals, and as a couple. It can be the heirloom blanket and picnic basket that you brought on your first date (and bringing wine as a “prop” never hurts!). Or it can be the cute hat you bought a couple of days ago. It can even be an ampersand (&) to hold. Many of our couples bring their dogs, which we also love. Or, in the case of Julia and Paul, it can be hockey and field hockey sticks!
Paul played hockey in Canada, and Julia field hockey in school. We loved that they brought props because it helped to tie their story together for our session, and it gave them both something to engage with so they weren’t constantly remembering we were taking their photos! Julia and Paul chose Binney Park in Greenwich, which we love for it’s willow trees, stone and wood bridges and quiet creek. And, as always, we started their engagement session during the “golden hour” of the day (near sunset). Starting near sunset with our couples is how we achieve the soft, romantic photos we are known for. It makes skin tones look great, and gives everything in our camera frame a yummy, golden glow. The results, we think speak for themselves.
Thanks again Julia and Paul for being so awesome and fun to hang out with – we had a fantastic time with you both!
