When Vicki and I are asked to photograph a ceremony we haven’t witnessed before, we get excited. And when Stephen & Veronica told us that they were to be married in a Coptic church, and described the events during the ceremony, we were thrilled. From a photographers perspective, it was over an hour of non-stop amazing moments to capture, full of brilliant colors, wrenching emotions, and deeply meaningful symbolism. When it was done, we felt exhilarated. We came to find out through the course of the day that Stephen is studying to make the Coptic faith a central focus of his life, and we can understand why. Stephen and Veronica also had one of the largest bridal parties we have ever (maybe the biggest) photographed – 24 of their closest friends. When potential clients ask us if we feel comfortable with their large bridal parties, we feel pretty confident that we have them covered. It’s easy to see what an emotional day Stephen and Veronica had by looking through their photos. I can’t speak for Vicki when Veronica read her note from Stephen, but when Stephen read Veronica’s note, there wasn’t a dry eye there (including my own, carefully hidden behind my camera). And so it went for the rest of their amazing day. Joyous moments punctuated by tears and powerful reflection. Just the sort of thing we love documenting. Veronica & Stephen, we were so honored to be your photographers. Thank you for bringing us along for the ride – we wish you both all of the happiness and joy possible in your years to come.
